Handbound Reconstructed Journals
When I first opened my Etsy shop back in September of 2006, I had many of the same items as I sell today (pinback buttons, video game coasters, knit items), but I also focused more on my handbound journals. I decided that since many people don't purchase mittens, scarves, and hats in the summer, that I would focus again on the journals that I make.
Generally, I reconstruct journals from old novels with cool looking covers. Some of my favourites are to make journals from the old Nancy Drew hardcover novels to be used as a diary, filled with our own secrets and mysteries.
Other novels that I have used are old Reader's Digest books (which end up being massive 600 page journals!) or ones like the one I just listed in my Etsy shop - it has a black cat on the front with the words, "The 13th is Magic!", which was an old hardcover novel.
Sometimes I fill the books with multi-coloured pages, sometimes just one colour. I also cover the front and back inside covers with washi paper or origami paper, with a place to write your name.
These journals are really fun to make and are unique and original, definitely something that you wouldn't be able to find at the store.
